Analisis Keselamatan Kerja di Kamar Mesin Berbasis Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) dan Risk Priority Number (RPN)

The engine room is the most critical area on a ship with a high potential for work accidents due to the complexity of machinery systems and hazardous working conditions. This study aims to identify and analyze occupational safety risks in the ship's engine room using Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Risk Priority Number (RPN). The research employs a quantitative descriptive approach with data collected through direct observation, interviews with crew members, and review of maintenance documents. FTA is applied to map system failures and identify root causes of accidents through a top-down deductive approach, while RPN is calculated based on Severity (S), Occurrence (O), and Detection (D) parameters to determine risk priority levels. The analysis results identify that failures in the lubrication system, cooling system, and fuel system constitute the primary risk factors, with the highest RPN value reaching 240, indicating a significant safety hazard. The FTA analysis reveals that human error, equipment failure, and inadequate maintenance procedures are the dominant root causes of potential accidents. Based on these findings, recommendations include routine maintenance of critical systems, periodic component inspections, safety training for crew, and implementation of automated detection systems. This research contributes to improving occupational safety in the engine room and supporting zero-accident operations in the maritime industry.
