Abstract

The shipping industry faces significant challenges related to the high turnover rate of seafarers, which is influenced by various factors, including seafarers' welfare and job satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the impact of welfare and job satisfaction on seafarers' turnover rates in Indonesian shipping companies. The research method used is a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed to 200 seafarers working in 5 shipping companies, with a response rate of 85%, and analyzed using regression analysis. The results show that 70% of seafarers are dissatisfied with the welfare provided by the company, while 60% report dissatisfaction with the available facilities. Additionally, 55% of seafarers stated that their companies' high turnover rate is caused by low job satisfaction. Reducing turnover can be achieved through improvements in welfare and job satisfaction, focusing on enhancing working conditions (78%) and improving facilities (65%). This study's conclusion is the importance of addressing seafarers' welfare and job satisfaction to reduce turnover rates in the shipping industry.
