Coastal areas in Indonesia have pervasive resources to be improved in advancing socio-economic and community welfare, considering that there are still many less prosperous people, and almost 62% of the total population is classified as having a standard of living below the poverty line. Improvements are needed by utilizing natural resources in coastal areas. One of these potentials is seaweed and tourism. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the concept of local economic development. This study summarizes the stages or processes of developing and managing coastal economic potential, including developing coastal community economic resources with seaweed businesses on the Jumiang Coast and developing marine tourism destinations in the Buleleng Regency.
