Indonesia’s maritime sector continues to grow rapidly, driven by the need to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impacts. One of the most exciting developments in this setting is the implementation of hybrid propulsion systems on ships operating in Indonesian waters. This study aims to optimize the use of hybrid propulsion systems in addition to improving the performance and sustainability of the Indonesian subsea industry. The method used in this study is to use a computational research approach, namely numerical simulation and analysis of ship operational data. This method allows the study team to find key variables that affect the efficiency of hybrid propulsion systems and produce design and operational recommendations relevant to the Indonesian maritime industry. The study results indicate that using a hybrid propulsion system can reduce fuel consumption by up to 30% and carbon emissions by up to 25% on ships operating in Indonesian waters. These findings provide empirical evidence of the significant potential of this technology to help the sustainability of the Indonesian maritime sector. This scientific article offers a complete plan for stakeholders in the Indonesian maritime industry to use hybrid propulsion technology successfully. The following recommendations discuss ship design, system component selection, and optimal operating methods. As a result, this study is intended to help efforts to create green technology while increasing the competitiveness of the national maritime industry.
