Based on the author's experience during the sea exercise in MV. Chandra Kirana, many of the crew members only work to carry out their respective duties without considering their safety or the safety of others. The captain issued a regulation to the crew that required increased consideration of safety factors to minimize accidents. This regulation also includes the obligation to correctly use personal protective equipment (PPE). The purpose of this research is to examine the factors that cause seafarers' low awareness of the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and what impacts and efforts can be made to increase this awareness. It uses a qualitative approach, where data collection is carried out concretely and using several data collection techniques. The results of this study show that efforts to prevent work accidents are made through coaching, such as training, education, counseling, and resource development; management systems, such as establishing procedures and regulations in the workplace, managing facilities and infrastructure, and implementing sanctions for those who violate the regulations that have been set. Efforts to prevent work accidents can also be made by monitoring hazards in the workplace, implementing good workplace SOPs, controlling hazards in the workplace, increasing worker knowledge about work safety, and providing warnings about hazards.
